Darik's Boot and Nuke (DBAN) This program makes a bootable floppy or USB drive that completely and irrecoverably destroys all data on a harddrive by writting 0's to every sector, multiple times. It's commonly known as a Low-Level-Format. If you don't have a floopy drive or can't boot from USB on your computer, there's also an ISO image for a bootable CD that's included in the ZIP file. Eraser This program allows you to permanently delete files or folders just like DBAN (see above), but it's able to run inside of windows. You can securely delete any file or folder. You can even securly empty your recycle bin. There's also a scheduling option, if you'd like it to erase your recylce bin or temp folder, for example, at a certain time everyday.
Restoration This program will allow you to scan your harddrive, flash drive, extenal drive, or floppy disk for files that were previously deleted. You can then "Restore by Copying" the file to try and recover it. It's not garrenteed to work for every file that was ever deleted. The earlier you act to recover it, however, the better your chances of success are.
Unlocker This program will allow you to "unlock" any file that you can't delete because it is "in use by another person or program", even on network drives. After the file as been unlocked, you're given a choice to Do Nothing, Rename, Delete, or to Move the file. The install also adds Unlocker to your shell menu (right-click menu) for easy access.
